The Dutch Owlbeard is a very old breed of chicken that was imported here in the US back in 2018. They are known for their jumbo sized white eggs and gorgeous spangled pattern. Here in the US we have Silver, Gold, and Lemon in their Large Fowl counterpart but in their home country, they are recognized in far more varieties and also come in bantams.
One of the more flashy varieties, gold owlbeards are a bird with a gold ground color, and a shiny black spangle on their feathers. Although only Lemon was imported, Golds and Silvers have also made their way here due to the genetics of lemon being hetero silver.
Silver also was another color that came from lemon breeding. They are the hardest color to find out of our three current varieties. Silver are a white ground color with a shiny black spangle on their feathers, making them a very attractive color as we personally LOVE black and white patterned birds.
Our most sought after Owlbeard color, lemons are a gorgeous light yellow-lemony color spotted with a shiny black spangle on each of their feathers, they sure are a sight to behold! They are a fan favorite that’s for sure! Please note that Lemon hatches all 3 varieties. Lemon, Gold and Silver.
